This year, activists are also encouraged to meet on land on the Seattle waterfront near Pier 66 at the same time for a nonviolent demonstration against weapons of war. Meet on the waterfront by 1 pm to see vessels in Elliott Bay.

The celebration of warships in our harbor help bring about the normalcy of modern war. One U.S. Navy warship arriving this year, the guided missile destroyer USS Milius, launched Tomahawk missiles during the first strike against Iraq in March 2003. Almost all U.S. Navy vessels are capable of firing radioactive depleted uranium munitions.
