Update on GZ's new house The old house is gone and its former site is now graded for replanting in grass. We plan to spread wood chips as widely as we can over the newly exposed dirt. Additional spaces have been cleared for planting in grass or ground cover west of the south driveway, north of the new carport and west of the new house where the new drainage pit is going in to handle rainwater from the house. The new house foundation site is ready for the foundation contractor this week. The utility trenches are complete up to the driveway, which the heavy trucks need to use to bring concrete and blocks to the house. Trenching will be completed after the heavy trucks are gone, perhaps in concert with installing the septic system in June or July. Volunteers for the next phase of building will be called when we know the arrival date of the building block for the walls. We are still negotiating with Durisol, so it may well be after Mothers' Day before we start placing the block. Let us know if you want to be on our call list. dchall@familyhealing.com The trailer has provided warmth, shelter, and a place to eat for hardworking volunteers who supported Don Markwick as he magically maneuvered the long-armed excavator around the site. |
