He is credited with being the first to warn in the 1970's that the Pentagon was seeking a disarming nuclear first strike capability. The Trident submarine base at Bangor, just 20 miles from Seattle, has become home to the largest single stockpile of nuclear warheads in the U.S. arsenal. In November 2006, the Natural Resources Defense Council declared that the 2,364 nuclear warheads at Bangor are about 24 percent of the entire U.S. arsenal. Read More ... Three peace activists sentenced for demonstrations at the Trident nuclear submarine base at Bangor, Washington On Thursday morning, February 22, in Kitsap County District Court in Port Orchard, 60 friends and family members of the three peace activists filled the courtroom. Judge Riehl explained his belief that International Law is relevant in this case and in other legal cases in Kitsap County courts. Sentencing Hearing for the “GZ3”
On Feb. 22, the “GZ3,” (L to R above) Shirley Morrison, Brian Watson and CarolAnn Barrows will be sentenced for their Jan. 26th conviction on Disorderly Conduct charges. They each face up to 180 days in jail and $2,000 in fines. They would love to have the courtroom packed with supporters as they face the court. Please come if you can. Trial of the “GZ3” — Conviction, Calling, and Conscience by Brian E. Three Ground Zero activists--Shirley Morrison of Seattle, Carol Ann Barrows of Bainbridge Island and Brian Watson of Bremerton--will be on trial on Monday January 22, 2007 in the District Court at the Kitsap County Courthouse at 614 Division Street in Port Orchard. The three are charged with two counts of Disorderly Conduct for being arrested in consecutive direct actions in May 2006 at the Mother’s Day action and in August 2006 at the Hiroshima/Nagasaki action. The three face a possible 180 days in jail and $2,000 in fines. Brian Watson's journal of daily event will be posted. See the link to your left.
