Welcome from Rev. Senji Kanaeda, MARCH 19, 2020
Dear friends,
We set the pipe at the center of the pagoda with concrete. That is supposed to be a standard on the construction process. We did it after passing an inspection of the condition of the ground by Kitsap County. The height of a temporary scaffolding is 19 feet. The top of the dome will be 22 feet as same as its diameter (in total 32 feet, as both of height and diameters include the foundation and decorated top.). You can imagine how big it is. We will continue to work after we will have stable and peaceful situation. I pray for good health and safety for all the people on the earth. We shall overcome and keep going to work for peace together.
Na mu myo ho ren ge kyo and gassho (palms together).
Senji Kanaeda

APRIL 4, 2022: Dear friends, Na Mu Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo, Oh Happy day!! We poured concrete to the (additional) foundation of the corridor of the pagoda today. The corridor is supposed to be 4′ high and 6-1/2′ wide. It was sunny, rainy and cloudy today. Thank you for Steve (Northwest Dharma News). This is our newest one step. Buddha’s birthday(4/8) is coming soon. Gassho and peace on earth, Senji Kanaeda

Senji Kanaeda is shown with a sorin in the same shape and size as the one that will be built to be placed on to of the Peace Pagoda being built at Ground Zero Center. This Morin is based on the motif of the five-storied pagoda of Kofukuji Temple (founded in 669) in Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. The area is one of Japan’s leading historical sites, and more than 1,000 wild deer are familiar to visitors. They bow to the people and symbolize peace.
Pagoda progress as of January 2024; The concrete base has been poured, and the mesh for the dome is complete.

Tyvek sheeting was applied before spraying both the outside and inside surfaces in a meticulous, multi-step process (second photo). The top plate, which will secure the Sorin, was also secured.
